CARL Source adapts to the size of your organization, no matter what industry it is in.
CARL Source, our computerized maintenance management system, is available in several versions, each of which is specific to a type of equipment or facility:
Equipment: Production or handling equipment, specific technical equipment (measuring, metering or testing devices), biomedical devices and laboratory equipment.
Buildings: Offices and infrastructure (sales areas, urban communities, chambers of commerce, airports).
Rolling stock: Claims management, insurance, warranties, recalls, integration with fuel terminals.
Linear networks: Water systems, road systems and electric systems.
Designed for Web architectures and integrating the latest Web technologies, CARL Source reconciles latest-generation technological advances with the wishes of the most demanding computer service users.
CARL Source is marketed both under traditional licenses and in SaaS mode through a hosting service.
CARL Source is a new CMMS solution, with leading-edge technical architecture and technologies.
CARL Source is a real 100% Web solution; it was developed entirely on the Java platform and can be fully installed with its source code (open source). CARL Source is a web-based CMMS software; unlike many other software solutions on the market, it does not require installation on customer workstations (no plug-in or Java engine), including for graphic functionalities (screen and report parameterization, map navigation, graphic planning, application administration).
CARL Source integrates a parameterizable dictionary that defines all the “objects” managed by the application (tables and data fields).
Thus, you have many possibilities for customizing and extending the standard: the terminology, the constraints imposed on data and the behavior of each field can easily be adapted. The “vocabulary” functionality allows you to change certain keywords throughout the application, authorizing speedy adaptation to your organization’s vocabulary.
CARL Source provides a parameterizable workflow associated with the main functional processes. Thus, the application adapts easily to the methods your organization uses. All users can have a customized home screen that keeps their preferred menus and functions together, as well as a dashboard comprising both graphic and quantified indicators adapted to their job function.
You can easily print reports, create or modify input or search screens, or any given behavior. These features, which are attached to a user or user group, allow you to change the presentation of information and make data consultation and entry easier, in particular by means of dynamic data presentation (colors, invisible or mandatory fields).
Finally – and this is not a trivial detail for anyone who has experienced a challenging software migration – our “Secure Update” technology controls potential conflicts among customized elements and new versions of CARL Source.
CARL Source is designed to manage several organizations, sites or corporations. Users see only the data that concern them.
Thanks to the “Babylon” option, CARL Source can be operated simultaneously in several languages, from different countries: screens and data adapt dynamically based on the nationality of the user who is connected. CARL Source manages extended alphabets.
CARL Source is flexible enough to be installed at a single workstation, but its full power is deployed over more complex system architectures (high availability, redundancy).
You have a wide range of solutions for each component of your architecture:
This freedom of choice gives you the assurance that CARL Source will adapt to changes in your internal systems.
The application core is based on Java technologies. CARL Source scrupulously respects the separation of the presentation and business layers. No code is installed on your workstation, so it is possible to optimize the application’s portability, maintenance and deployment. The various components have been optimized to distribute the load in the best possible way (processor, memory) and reduce response time.
The software is compatible with rigorous network security (no administrator rights on customer systems, HTTPS protocol). CARL Source also meets the various standards in effect regarding authentication, single sign-on (SSO) and traceability. Thus, it provides the security guarantees that are indispensable in some industries (21CFR11/FDA).
The CARL Source architecture lives up to today’s expectations for interoperability (SOA): The server components provide a variety of services (Web services) adapted for any kind of application collaboration, even on different platforms. This approach ensures easy communication with all the organization’s software: centralized directory (LDAP), purchasing or accounting systems, ERP (Baan, JD Edwards, Movex, Oracle applications, SAP), CAPM, BTM/CTM, MES applications (ISA 95 compliant).
CARL Source can be easily integrated into an organization’s portal: The Web services it includes provide call points to the functional components you want to operate. For example, the creation of new service requests can easily be integrated into your organization’s intranet. Your standard query tools (Business Objects, Excel, Query) can be used for analyses or decision support.
All data in the application can be exported into different formats with just one click (XML, Excel).
CARL Loader is integrated into CARL Source as a standard option; it ensures both the initial recovery of existing data and on-demand imports. This tool was designed for non-specialists and it manages numerous file formats in native mode (Excel, Access).
Because document management is integrated into the application, you can associate multimedia files (Word, Autocad, MS-Project) with any kind of object (service request ticket, hardware, article). Administration of these documents can either be delegated to a third-party management system (EDM, CMS) or executed by CARL Source within its own library: in that case, documents are stored centrally on the server or simply tagged with a URL link or an access path.
With CARL Source, you can manage several autonomous databases, in locations (ships, remote missions) where permanent communication with the central base is impossible. Specialized functions, which can be adapted to your needs, synchronize these remote bases in order to pool purchases or consolidate financial or technical data, while guaranteeing data integrity, even in the case of intermittent connections (satellite, 3/4G).
